Skin cancer is unfortunately one of the most common forms of cancer in the country. Although it is a diagnosis we hope you never have to hear, if you should find yourself facing this disease, you can rest assured that liv Plastic Surgery is prepared to help you remove the cancerous tissue.
What Method Does liv Plastic Surgery Use?
Our team uses the Mohs surgery method to treat the two most common types of skin cancer. Traditionally, once Mohs surgery is complete, there is an open wound where the cancerous cells once were. Patients may allow the wound to heal on its own, if it is very small, or it may require stitches if the body’s healing process would not be sufficient.
At liv Plastic Surgery, we perform Mohs Complete™, a team-based, comprehensive approach that allows your tumor to be removed with 99% certainty, while also achieving cosmetic results that are equal or better to traditional Mohs.
What Happens After Mohs Surgery?
In general, pain after Mohs surgery is typically minimal and can typically be managed with acetaminophen (Tylenol®). Although localized swelling and bruising can occur, you can expect those symptoms to resolve within a week. In most cases, bleeding is minimal. However, you are welcome to contact us if any of your symptoms seem to be a cause for concern.
When Can I Return to Normal Activity?
After your Mohs surgery, it is wise to rest and avoid strenuous activity and exercise. This will prevent unnecessary bleeding as well as reduce potential damage to any stitches. During your consultation, Dr. Ress will discuss the specifics of your recovery in greater detail, so you will fully understand what to expect. He will also be available to answer any of your questions at that time.
